I’ve bought different kinds of projectors for home and work use. I think it’s fair to say that most of them function quite well. Depending on how you plan to use the projector, you’ll find that there are many good models out there to meet your need.

I have several projectors at home in different rooms. My students have been over to my house and they’re impressed with the projection system. For the price, the image produced is certainly of great quality. In fact you shouldn’t be too surprised to get a bright and clear image with this unit.

It is also extremely portable and reasonably sturdy. If durability is what you seek, this is surely one you can’t afford to miss.

On the downside, you may not be able to compare this little toy with other high-end projectors. For one, the resolution of this unit is truly a compromise, as it is extremely low. It is also known that the EyeClops Mini Projector has a very poor contrast. How To Use A Projector

Using a projector may be quite of a hassle, especially if you’re new to the ordeal. You may need to read up your users manual and even then, need some professional guidance. There are however, a few basic steps that you can take to get you started. These steps can help you save time and prevent unwanted setup mistakes.

Firstly, ensure that you have all the appropriate cables and peripherals in order. You may want to be on the lookout for a port replicator, AC adapters , CD-ROM drives and FD Drives. You will also obviously need to have a suitable laptop computer. The port replicator should be properly attached to the laptop. As such, you should ensure that the the port is compatible with the replicator.

Secondly, connect the port replicator with the mouse, FD drive and AC adapter. This can be done by matching the ports accordingly. There will be a written indication (either in words of symbols) to show the appropriate port. This information can also be obtained from the user manual. Once the connections are settled, re-check to ensure all connections are correct and proper. You may also want to take notice of any loose connections and keep an eye out for mismatches.

Next, insert the CD-ROM drive’s PC card into the appropriate PC card slot. A PC can also be connected to the projector using a display cable. The display cable and power cords are connected to the back of your projector. Finally, you may attach the plug to a power supply.

Once you have ensured all connections are proper and intact, start up the projector. This can be done by pressing the POWER or ON/OFF button on your projector. It is always advised to turn on the projector first prior to turning on the computer. Then transfer your laptop screen to the projector image by using the toggle key (usually one of the function keys, depending on laptop models). In some laptops, this is done by pressing the F5 key while holding down the Fn key. You may be able to choose between “only screen display”, “only projector display” and “both display”.

Always remember to have both your projector manual and your computer manual handy. Also, be extra careful when fixing the wires and cables. Avoid having them tangled up in a mess as this may make it difficult to rectify any mismatched connections. Apart from these steps, always remember to use your manual as a primary reference. Different models of projectors may have slight differences in setup steps and requirements. As such, it may be good to be attuned with the guidelines specific to your very own projector.

Such problems can be especially draining when you’re in urgent need to use your projector. It’s truly frightening to imagine having to deal with a problematic projector when you’re setting up the stage for an important conference. You also wouldn’t be too pleased to have projector problems interfere with that home theater experience you have been longing for throughout the week. If this is the case, find an alternative power source. If the lamp is defective, replace the lamps in a service center. Do not attempt to do it on your own if you have no experience. The last thing you’d want to do is open up something you can’t put back together. It is also good to be aware of the status LED on your projector (if any). If it is flashing, look to your manual for further solutions.

Problems with Signal or Picture
If you’re experiencing problems with the signal or picture, you shouldn’t be too surprised as this is also a common problem with projectors. Upon setting up, it is important that you turn on the projector first. You will then be able to see a blank projection image. Only then should you turn on your computer, ensuring the cables are properly connected. Also, if you experience this problem when using a laptop, you may need to disable your laptop screen first. This can be done by using the function key that enables you to toggle the image. This key can be identified by its icon, or by the words “LCD” or “CRT”. As such, resolution and lumen size are two of the most important things you should look out for when purchasing a projector.

Space
The location in which you intend to place your projector is also another factor to consider when making a purchase. If you have limited options for space , you may want to purchase a projector that allows for adjustment and centering of image at a great horizontal and vertical range. This means your projector can be optimized to center the image on the screen even if its placed below or towards the right and left of the screen. Also, most projectors have zoom lenses that allow for image adjustment to fit your screen size. The zooming limit of the lens may be a factor that limits your screen size. As such, you may want to look for a projector with a higher zoom as that would enable the image to match almost any screen size.

Function
Apart from that, you should also inquire on the suitability of your projector towards the type of input you intend to use it for. How To Clean A Projector

Projectors may always require some maintenance for optimum and lasting performance. A few know-hows on cleaning up may come in handy. If you’re the type who would not want to risk the lifespan of your projector over some minor cleaning up flaws, you may need to take heed of these information.

One of the major parts of your projector that would require cleaning are the filters attached near the cooling fans. These filters easily trap dust and may get clogged, reducing the performance of your cooling system. Apart from this, inefficient filtration may result in dust accumulating on inner components of your projector, leading to major technical issues in future. Remember to clean up or change these filters regularly. Instruction manuals may have instructions on optimal times by which the filters have to be changed.

Unclean or inefficient filters may lead to the formation of visible ‘dust blobs’ on the image projected. These occurrences are not frequent. However, when they do happen, use a can of compressed air to battle the dust in the scenario. You can reverse the projector and open the filter hatch prior to cleaning it up. Wash the filter with water and dry it prior to replacing it. However, you should never allow the inside of your projector to be in contact water. Instead, you can used the canned air to spray off dust in the parts that are removed from the projector. When cleaning the dust off your projector, pay extra attention to the LCD and polarizer area. Make sure that all the dust is blown off the crevices of these areas. Also be extremely careful not to scratch or damage anything in this region. The LCD panel can be especially susceptible to scratches so do be careful.

When removing components for clean up, be sure to remember how to put them back together upon cleaning. Taking pictures of screws and positions is a good idea if you are forgetful like me. Refer to the manual too as it may be a helpful guide when removing and replacing parts of the projector.

If you carefully follow these steps and practice them appropriately in a regular fashion, you may be surprised at how you can maintain the performance of your projector. In fact, you would actually save costs on repairs and replacements with regular maintenance.
